Why are we here ?
I believe that there is a real battle, a spiritual battle for our eternal soul. It is not about material things which eventually get boring so new inventions are created to keep our minds occupied..
It's not about technological advancement or scientific mind games. Though Satan loves to play these games. At the end of the day it all comes down to one fundamental question.
Do you believe that Jesus is the Son of God ?
God has a rival, Satan who wants to completely & utterly destroy man kind from the face of this Earth. He wants to stop you knowing the truth about this World & the next. He knows if He can manipulate your mind into believing that all that is important is the new perfume that's coming out, or the latest gadget that's been invented is so important that things of the spirit doesn't matter.
If He can keep your mindset on this material World then He can control your spirit as well,
There is a very truthful saying that I found a few years ago and it goes like this...
If I told you a lie...you would know it.
If I robbed you ...you would know it
But if I deceived you...You would never know it.
This is what Satan has been doing for thousands of years. Since the time He deceived Eve in the Garden of Eden and he is still using the same tactics today.
