There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: 3:2The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. 3:3Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 3:4Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? 3:5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 3:6That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 3:7Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. 3:8The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. 3:9Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be? 3:10Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things? 3:11Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. 3:12If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? 3:13And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven
Many Christians have trouble understanding this even today, without the Holy Spirit leading you,this is impossible to understand. Nicodemus was a ruler of Israel, a very learned man. He knew that Jesus was sent from God because of all the signs and miracles he had seen, but he still did not understand what Jesus meant about being Born Again.
Adam was created from dust and God breathed life into him, spiritual as well as physical. When Adam & Eve disobeyed God that spirit that God had given them died.Jesus was talking of Himself to Nicodemus, for Jesus was born of the Spirit of God,He was implanted into Mary`s body by God, by the Holy Spirit and not by man.So as Adam was the man born of the earth and became flesh,( water) which incidentally is 60% water, and as we already know Adam died spiritually, then if Adam died spiritually then the Holy Spirit was not in him or the people who were born after, unless God himself revealed Himself to them for a reason.
Jesus was born of the Holy Spirit and when He died and was resurrected, became the new Adam, the first man born of the Holy Spirit. In other words He was " Born Again"and if we do not believe in Jesus as the Son of God and turn from our sin and be Born Again by the Holy Spirit then WE will not see the Kingdom of Heaven. It`s all about turning from sin, and being like Jesus. This doesn`t happen overnight, but God will perfect you, either until you go to sleep( for that`s what Born Again Christians do, they don`t die, they just wait in sleep till Jesus comes to take them home to Heaven) or the Rapture occurs, which by the signs of the times could be any time now.
If you believe in Jesus and are filled with the Holy Spirit you are no longer a slave to sin, you are free to do that what is right, to follow God`s perfect path for your life. By following this path you please God, by accepting His Son and doing what His Son says you will have Eternal Life.
WOW! what a wonderful God He is. It says in the Bible that once you are Born Again then you become a new creature, a home for the Holy Spirit of God to fellowship with you for ever. What a fantastic gift.
Not only will you have fellowship with the Holy Spirit, but also with Jesus and God the Father, and they will tell you and show you everything there is to know. All this will take for ever, and you will be perfect in every way such as Jesus is. My puny human mind can`t take any of this in at the moment, but I know this will happen because God tells me so, and God doesn`t lie.
It says in the Bible that you will know as you are known. Seeing that God knows everything about you, even what you think before you think it, every hair on your head and everything you are going to do before you do it,what incredible knowledge that will be, no, I just can`t envisage what that means, but it don`t half sound good.....
